Skip IFF: file all three months together in the last month of the quarter

21 Jun 2026 · 2 min read · By apriltax Team

If you file GSTR-1 quarterly (QRMP) and don't want to file IFF every month, you can report your whole quarter's sales together in the final month — March for the Jan–Mar quarter. Here's the simple way to do it in apriltax.

Short version: In month 1 and 2, choose "Skip IFF". Do nothing those months. After the quarter ends, upload all three months' reports into the final month and file once.

Step-by-step

  1. In month 1 & 2, choose "File everything in the last month". When apriltax asks how you want to file (the IFF popup), pick Skip IFF. You don't upload or file anything for the first two months of the quarter — there's nothing to do those months.
  2. Wait until the quarter ends. For the Jan–Mar quarter, that means waiting until March is over. Keep all three months' marketplace reports (Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, etc.) handy.
  3. Open the final month and upload all three months together. Open March in apriltax and upload every report from January, February and March at once. apriltax automatically routes each file to the right month.
  4. Everything rolls into the quarterly return. All B2B, B2C and other transactions from the whole quarter are combined into the single March (quarter-final) GSTR-1 — you don't file them month by month.
  5. Review, validate and fix. Check your section totals and HSN summary, then run the compliance checks. Fix anything flagged (e.g. wrong HSN codes) right inside apriltax.
  6. Download the JSON and file on the portal. Download the GSTR-1 JSON, sign in to gst.gov.in, import it, and submit your quarterly return. Your buyers see their Input Tax Credit (ITC) once the quarterly return is filed.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to file IFF every month under QRMP?
No. IFF is optional. You can skip it in the first two months of the quarter and report everything together in the quarter's final month.
When do my buyers get their Input Tax Credit if I skip IFF?
After the quarterly return is filed, not month by month. If a buyer needs credit sooner, file IFF for that month instead.
Can I change my mind after choosing to skip IFF?
Yes. You can switch your choice any time before you submit, using the Change button on the filing screen.
